JUBILATE JESUS for the Jubilee Year 2025

JUBILATE JESUS 2025 (to be pronounced like 'celebrate') is an initiative to rejoice in Christ with beautiful melodies and meaningful lyrics. It consists of two volumes of hymns; the first was published on December 31, 2024; the second is scheduled for release on July 1, 2025. The reason underlying the two parts is to ensure a sustained spirit of reverence, joy and worship throughout the 12 months of the Jubilee Year.

Particularly significant is the first song - Jesus Christ Is Our Only Hope. This anthem is sure to resonate with young people as they joyfully profess their faith in the ever-present Risen Lord. The lively melody, composed by Sr Cecilia Park, FMA, complements the crisp and inspiring lyrics by Fr Peter Gonsalves, SDB. It is sung and arranged by Neuman Pinto.

The albums are educational and not-for-profit. Most of the hymns have been translated into English from Italian, Korean and Portuguese, with the kind permission of the original composers. The musical arrangements are provided by select musicians from Mumbai. The albums are presented as videos, with lyrics displayed on the right side of the screen and relevant AI-generated images on the left. This arrangement makes it easy for the audience to sing along by following the on-screen text as the song plays.

This initiative was planned in 2023, and executed in 2024 by the Salesians of the Province of Mumbai, thanks to the unwavering encouragement received from Rev. Fr Savio Silveira, SDB, the Provincial and his Council.

About the title:

"JUBILATE JESUS" is an evocative and uplifting title. It carries a sense of joy, celebration and reverence, perfectly aligning with the spirit of exalting Jesus. By using "JUBILATE" (with its beautiful Latin root meaning "rejoice"), we combine joy, jubilee and celebration, all encapsulated in one verb. The pronunciation, akin to "celebrate," makes it accessible and resonant. It feels like an invitation to thank, praise, worship and rejoice in our fidelity and love for Jesus, our Saviour and Lord.
