Shaun D'Souza, Computer scientist, Researcher, Author, Inventor has published a book titled A Retrospective on Enabling a Connected World: The Race for the Original Primordial Soup. The book is a compendium of his Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) learnings, and includes software and AI/ML manuscripts. In addition to this book, he has numerous publications, including a paper that was recognised in 2018 as part of Social Science Research Network's "top ten downloads" for the "CompSciRN: Artificial Intelligence" category.
An excerpt from the book's Prologue:
As academia and industry, we have vested interests in dissemination of software in society. We explore a broader ecosystem enabling for industry and academia confluence. We explore the AI journey as a contemporary technology. We look at the nuances of how we as a society perceive technology.
The tree and maze illustrate a dichotomy in software and systems infrastructure. They are essential ingredients in an ecosystem. Use cases include the rationalisation of taxonomies/thesauri and cognitive biases e.g. man-woman, snakes-ladders, import-export, left-right, train-test.
